Founded in 1946 by the Illinois Legislature, Zion Park District has the particular responsibility of providing and maintaining open space, and of offering recreational facilities and programs for your enjoyment and use. Approximately eight percent of your tax bill represents the park district portion.Our Purpose
Whether its by offering wholesome programs, activities and special events, by providing enjoyable facilities or by preserving the aesthetic beauty of our community, the sole purpose of Zion Park District is the enrichment of lives.Board Of Commissioners
Your Park District Board consists of five elected commissioners. Each commissioner is elected for a six year term. Once every two years, you choose the person to represent you on the Park Board. The next election will be held in April, 2007. Two commissioners will be elected at that time. Board meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7 P.M. at the Shiloh Center.
